Reimagining Your Math Adoption: Selecting New Materials for a Generation of Learners
CalCurriculum, in partnership with the California Department of Education, is offering a virtual, free Math adoption professional learning experience for districts and CMOs during the 20-21 school year. We can help your district develop high-quality adoption processes based on your unique goals, needs, and priorities.
Why: As recent research demonstrates, adopting and effectively implementing high-quality, standards-aligned materials can be a relatively low cost, high impact method of improving student outcomes. In response to Covid-19, districts have made unprecedented shifts to how school looks and how students learn. However, even with all the adjustments, the foundation of that learning still remains the same whether it is virtual or in person: high-quality instruction with the support of high-quality instructional materials.
What: Districts will develop a plan for the adoption of standards aligned, high quality math materials, including a change management strategy, instructional vision, and definition of quality in instructional materials. The learning will take place over the course of 6 full-day synchronous virtual sessions and asynchronous work in between during the 20-21 school year.
Details: LEAs must be able have a team composed of site and district-based instructional leadership, including teachers, to all sessions. Due to the limited number of spots, we will be selecting districts based on their ability to commit to the team described above and the full learning sequence, among other measures. This workshop is free and you can apply through the form below. You can read the learning scope & sequence here.
